| Welcome!
I welcome you to my little spot on the Internet for the past few years, The Southern Great Lakes Gardener. This website is all about gardening in the southernmost portion of the beautiful Great Lakes Region, an area
of small towns and friendly people, cosmopolitan cities and sophistication, lighthouses and dunes.
Gardening has always been a passion of mine, since my preschool years. I was fortunate to have had a Mother who dearly loved Nature, the outdoors, and gardening in particular. What I learned has been from her experiences and those of my own, based on nearly 50 years of grubbing in the soil and adapting to the challenges of the Great Lakes climate.
This is a collection of gardening articles that I have written based on these experiences and observations, and tons of other information as well, from links to resources. I hope you will find this site entertaining as well as informative.
So, come on in! Sit back, relax, and spend a little time "at the garden", and browse through what is available here!

July Updates
First off, I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July Holiday, and Ditto for Dominion (Canada) Day to our neighbo(u)rs up North in Canada!
I've been just busy as a bee, as I am sure all of you have been. My brief hiatus from remodeling the site has been due to two hospitalizations: Hubsters and my own brief foray as a patient in my own right. We survived!
Also, I spend as much time on the computer with college assignments at the ripe old age of 54 as I do at work or out in the yard. I'm on the computer for a couple of hours or so most days, but mainly churning out research papers and other course-related work.
Anyhoo, I will close by thanking those who have visited and those who have graciously signed the guestbook. I often find entries days or even weeks later (guilty of not checking in as often as I should). Until I find a better way of doing a guestbook with instant replies, if you have any questions, please e-mail me at the address you see in the left column. I don't have it as a link, but you can copy and paste it into your correspondence. Just let me know in the header the subject and so on so I don't file-13 it as spam.
Happy gardening, all!
